Гергиев - падающая звезда Metropolitan?
Зоркое око New-York Times наблюдает за сгущающимися над Валерием Гергиевым тучами.
Необычная манера дирижирования, недостаток внимания и собранности, вечные опоздания на репетиции и концерты, которыми он прославился по обе стороны океана порождают волну недовольствия среди артистов театра.
Последняя постановка "Отелло" в этом месяце вызвала бурю негативных рецензий в городской прессе. Тем не менее руководство театра Гергиевым, кажется, довольно и не собирается в ближайшем будущем пересматривать свое отношение к нему. Как же в действительности обстоят дела с судьбой "русской звезды дирижирования"?
"Still, Mr. Volpe has chastised Mr. Gergiev for chronic tardiness. The conductor arrived 10 minutes late to the dress rehearsal of Wagner's "Parsifal," which he conducted in five performances this month. A backup conductor began the rehearsal; Mr. Gergiev said he was late because he needed to ice a knee he banged while making tea. Then he appeared just minutes before the first "Parsifal" performance on April 4. "Valery heard from me about that one," Mr. Volpe said.
Asked last week about strain in his relationship with the Met orchestra and chorus, Mr. Gergiev said that he was "not experiencing anything except a very, very high degree of pleasure." He had wanted to bring to New York a Russian repertory little known in the West and to introduce a new generation of singers from the Kirov. That work is proceeding better than he could have imagined, Mr. Gergiev said. In July the Kirov is scheduled to return to the Met for a three-week festival of four Russian operas, including a rarity, Prokofiev's "Semyon Kotko," as well as Verdi's "Macbeth."
